ALL ABOUT US
Great Western
Lacrosse was formed in the fall of 1983 by Tommy Hannum
and Russ Olsen. It
was formed as a special project through the Physical
Education Department at
San Diego State University. It began with a
summer camp of 29 young players
in 1984 from the San Diego area and has
exploded into the premiere lacrosse
adventure on the West coast, teaching
over 500 players of both genders each
summer.
The Company
expanded into Collegiate Recruitment in the early 1990's and
has helped many
student athlete's make the jump to college lacrosse.
Sonoma State, UC Santa
Barbara, San Diego State, University of Utah,
Westminster University, Loyola
Marymount University, UC San Diego,
Arizona State University and Chapman
University are school that frequent
our programs to recruit players to their
programs.
We also have the
oldest high school indoor league in the West. In 1994, we
formed the Great
Western Indoor Lacrosse League held in the off season.
Ten Saturdays over a
3 month period has helps the local lacrosse players
keep their skills honed
and ready for the spring.
In the fall of
2004, we launched an online store for lacrosse equipment and
apparel in
partnership with Tribal West lacrosse. You will also be able to
sign up for
Indoor Lacrosse, Private Lessons, Tournaments and the
Summer Camps online
and pay by credit card if you choose.
In 2005 we added a
High School Tournament to memorialize the "Godfather"
of San Diego Lacrosse,
and my coach for 7 years, Norm Webb.
In 2006, we
established the Girl's Lacrosse Camp that teaches 75-100 girls
this great
