A GIRLS CAMP
DAY
The staff on each floor wake you at
7:00am. You have 30 minutes to rise and get ready for the day. Breakfast
begins at 7:30am and ends at 8:00am, then it's back to your room to prepare
for the first session. You have one hour to prepare so if you want to quickly rock some guitar hero or check out the camp
store, you have time.
The first practice session of the day has you arriving at the fields by
9:00am. For the next half an hour, we stretch, warm up and are
assigned to our groups. We spend two hours working hard in the drills,
listening to the coaches and encouraging other players. When practice ends,
we head back to the dorm. We have a half hour to unwind, change
and get ready for lunch. Lunch is at high noon and ends at 12:30pm.
Following lunch, we have some free time. Some will head to their rooms, some
to the game room, some to the TV lounges and some will head to the swimming
pool. The pool is open from 12:45pm to 1:45pm each day for our group.
The second session of the day has you arriving at the field by 2:15pm. For
the next half an hour, we stretch, warm up and are assigned to our
groups for the drills of the session. We spend two hours working hard in the
drills, again, listening to the coaches and encouraging other players. The
trainer makes sure all players with bumps and bruises are looked after. When
practice ends, we head back to the dorm. We have a half hour to to
unwind, change and get ready for dinner at 5:15pm.
Following dinner, we have the last session of the day. We arrive at the
field by 6:30pm, we just take 15 minutes to warm up and stretch. This
session lasts for 2 hours.
Following the evening session, we have free time in the dorm. The game room
is in full swing. The play station lounges are rocking. The camp store is
busy and players from all around the southwest are meeting each other,
making new friends and having fun. It is at this time that we have events
planned. One night will be "Name that Tune". The last night is the popular
Talent Show. These events are optional and come complete with prizes.
We head to our floors at 10:30pm to brush our teeth and prepare for bed. Bed
Check at 11:00pm and the full day of lacrosse at the Great Western Girls
Camp is at an end.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some sessions are longer and some sessions are shorter depending on the
skills being taught within the framework of the curriculum. Some days we go
to the pool before lunch. Water is available at all practices. The trainer
is on staff from 8:30am to 9:00pm. We have a ratio of 7:1, staff to players,
living in the dorm during the week.
