The Great Western
Memorial Lacrosse Tournament was founded
in 2005 in the memory of A. Norman
Webb, one of the driving forces and pioneers in San Diego Lacrosse. Norm was
not only
a great lacrosse coach but he was a better person. As a player,
he
was an all-American goalie at West Point. He spent two tours
in Viet Nam
where he became the most decorated Army Ranger
in the conflict.
He spent countless hours, always unpaid, helping the young players and
coaches of San
Diego learn and excel in
the sport that he loved. This tournament is
predicated on that love of the game through sportsmanship, dedication and
team work.
