TEACHING CAMP
FORMAT
The play at our camp is controlled and structured. We teach in a
progression, beginning with fundamentals, moving into individual skills,
transition parts of the
game and ending with team play. We do not allow body
checking at any time during camp. Over aggressive play and bad attitudes are dealt with
immediately.
Our teaching camp
has three divisions
Division 1
This is the high
school division and is for players in
grades 9 - 12. This division takes the
curriculum at a slightly faster pace than
the other two divisions. Many
college coaches will be on staff for this division. This division handles
all levels of experience, from novice to advanced.
If a 9th grader is brand new to the game and
is struggling
in division 1, he can be moved to division 2 if the
staff and the divisional
directors feel it will benefit the player. All players in this division will
be divided into teams for game play
at the end of the week. An All-Star team
will be selected from
this group to play the staff.
Division 2
This is the
middle school division and is for players
in grades 5-8. This division spend a bit more time on the curriculum than
division one. We have some of the best teaching coaches in this division. This division handles all levels of experience, from novice to
advanced as well. If
an 8th grader is very advanced in his skills, he can bemoved up to division 1 to play against better players. If
a player in the 5th grade is struggling in division 2, he
can be moved down to division 3. The staff and the divisional directors make
it their mission to get each player in the right
place so they properly
learn and have some success.. All players in this division will be divided
into teams for game play at the
end of the week. An All-Star team will also
be selected from
this group to play the staff.
Division 3
This is the
elementary school division and is for players in
grades 3 - 5. This is
normally a small group, roughly 10 to 15 players, which allows coaches to
have smaller teaching groups. This division runs concurrently with division
2 but they have
their own groups. The coaches in this division work heavily
on
the fundamentals of lacrosse, the most important area when just learning
the game. This division handles all levels of experience, from novice to
advanced
as well. If a 4th or 5th grader is ready,
he will be moved up to division 2.
All players in this division will play a game against the staff. This
division also gets a session
off to spend at the pool with their coaches
because at this age,
a kid needs to be a kid and just have plain fun.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our
Director and our staff go above and beyond what most
camps do in regards to
evaluating player skill level.
It is vital to the player that he is in the
right group when learning. Our first night at camp is spent evaluating
players, organizing them into proper teaching groups and moving them
immediately
if their experience and skill level dictates. This behind the
scenes discipline is what sets us apart from the rest. We hope
to see your
son at camp this summer. Take a chance with us,
we won't let you down.
