Russ Olsen - Owner & Camp Director
Russ is the co-founder of the teaching camp and has directed it since its inception in 1984. He is a physical education and health teacher. He is in his 25th year as a Head HS Varsity coach. He has 2 California State HS Lacrosse Championship under his belt as a coach, one with Patrick Henry HS in 1995 and the other with Serra HS in 1998.
 
 Russ is a member of the Novato Lacrosse Hall of Fame and the
 San Diego State Lacrosse Hall of Fame. His number 21 was retired
 from the San Diego State Lacrosse program. He has taught over
 2000 players the game of lacrosse.

Joe Brown
Teaching Camp Field Director
Joe is the founder of Scripps Ranch Lacrosse
in both boys and girls lacrosse. He is instrumental in getting players into the proper groups during the camp, organizing the staff and implementing the camp curriculum. His enthusiasm is electric. His organizational skills are unmatched. He is in his 10th year teaching
at the camp.
 

Face Off Camp Director

Scott Witkin

Scott played his college lacrosse at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He has coached at the collegiate level. He played for the Los Angeles Riptide professional team. He is currently the Head Varsity Coach at Downey HS in Los Angeles. He is the Director of Our Face-Off Camp. He is in his 10th year teaching at the camp.
 

Shooting Camp Director

Seth Bokmeyer
Seth is the former Offensive Coordinator for the past 10 years at Rancho Bernardo HS where he put his team into the San Diego CIF section tournament almost every year. He knows his offense and knows how to team shooting. He is in his 3rd year at the helm of the Shooting Camp.
 
Goalie Camp Director
Justin Boland
Justin played his HS Lacrosse at Saint Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco and his college lacrosse at San Diego State University. He is currently getting his Doctorate in Psychology at the University of Texas.
 
Melodie Hixson - Athletic Trainer
Melodie was educated in sports medicine at San Diego State University. She is currently the Head Athletic Trainer at Canyon Crest Academy HS in San Diego. Her caring attitude and fieldside manner make her the best trainer in the summer camp arena. She is in her 5th year taking care of the players at the Camp.

Rick Zoerner - Division 1
Rick is the foundation of the division 1 coaches. He played his collegiate lacrosse at the University of Massachusetts. He is currently coaching defense at Santa Margarita Catholic HS in Orange County. His energy and hilarious personality give the kids a boost the likes of which no other camp has seen, on top of being a great teacher of the game. He is in his 21st year teaching at camp.
 

Adam Bokmeyer - Division 1
Adam is a former camper and played his HS lacrosse at Granite Hills. He went on to play college lacrosse at West Point. He is currently the Defensive Coordinator at Chico State University. He brings intensity and a solid work ethic to the division 1 program.  He is in his 5th year at the camp.

Andrew Goodhand - Division 1

Andrew played his HS lacrosse at Judge Memorial HS in Salt Lake City, Utah. He went on the be a star midfielder in college at Bucknell University. He is a former camper and has now become one of the hardest working coaches at camp. He is currently the Assistant Coach at the University of California at Berkeley. He is in his 4th year teaching at camp.

 
Charlie Jackson - Division 1
 Charlie played his HS lacrosse at patrick Henry HS in San Diego 
 where he took home the 1995 State Championship crown. He
 played his college ball at Chico State and is now in his 3rd year
 as head coach of the Chico State program.
 He specializes in midfield play and does his recruiting when he 
 works at Great Western. He is in his 2nd year teaching at camp.
 
Peter Clark - Division 1
Peter Clark is an Assistant Coach at St. Margaret's HS in Orange County. He is in his 5th year teaching at camp.


               

Matt Hunt - Division 1

Matt Hunt is a HS Counselor at Del Norte HS in San Diego where he is also the Head Coach of the Varsity Lacrosse team. He brings a solid lacrosse knowledge and an extremely positive coaching style to the Great Western camp. He is in his 3rd year at Great Western.

Cliff Prausa - Division 2
Cliff is the head varsity Coach at Corona Del Sol HS in Phoenix, Arizona. He is also the Director and coach of the Kyrene Warrior youth lacrosse program. Cliff was instrumental in the formation of the division 2 curriculum and has a definite talent in coaching young players. His demeanor and compassion for the players he coaches is unmatched. He is in his 8th year teaching at the camp.

 
Larry Noble - Division 2
Larry is the current Head Varsity Coach at Mountain Pointe HS in Phoenix, Arizona. He played his collegiate lacrosse at the Citadel. His best asset is being able to teach younger players in a way they can understand and excel. He bring quite a bit of experience to the Great Western camp. He is in his 6th year teaching at camp.

Adam Wirtz - Division 2

Adam is a former Great Western camper who turned coach. As a player he was a top long pole midfielder at Arizona State University. He is great with the kids on the field and spend loads of time in the dorm helping young players fix or re-string their sticks. His stick skills with a long pole are impressive and his focus with the players of the camp is defensive. He is in his 9th year teaching at the camp.

Danny Metoyer - Division 2

Danny played his HS lacrosse at Serra HS, where he was a member of the 1998 California HS State Championship Team. He went on the play college lacrosse at Chapman University in Orange County, where he set the teams career scoring record. He has coached at his high school alma mater and at the collegiate level, at University of San Diego. He is currently running a youth program in the Chicago area. This is his 9th year teaching at camp.

Masato Takeshita - Division 2

Masato played his HS lacrosse at Serra high school in San Diego where he was an All-Star midfielder. He went on to play college lacrosse at the University of California at Santa Barbara. At UCSB, he became one of the top face-off specialists in the League. He is our division 2 face-off specialists. His quiet demeanor help 
 him get his teaching point across to players in a way they can
 grasp. He is in his 8th year at camp.
 
Jeff McDade - Division 2
Jeff is the current Head Varsity Coach at Granite Hills HS in San Diego. He was a star attackman at Patrick Henry HS, winning the California State Championship in 1995. He played collegiately at SDSU. He has built his program into a powerhouse in the Grossmont League and continues to produce quality players, many of whom go on to play collegiate lacrosse. He is in his 6th year teaching at the camp.

 
Rob Bauer - Division 2
 Rob is formerly the 8th grade Head Coach of the Penasquitos 
 Tigers LC
in San Diego but has just accepted the Head Coaching 
 position of the Junior Varsity of Westview HS in San Diego. He
 work the Great Western Indoor League this fall and will make his
 inaugural appearance at the Great Western lacrosse Camp this
 summer. A great addition to an already incredible staff.

 We have several more coaches on staff to be
 there for your son at camp. All are dedicated, 
 enthusiastic and committed to making your sons'
 camp experience one he will never forget.
